It’s important to understand the different types of messages so you know how to respond and communicate effectively.
Note for SMS users: If you are using Mustr via SMS, your experience will differ from what is shown here. For instructions, see (NEW LOOK) How to Respond to a Mustr Message as an SMS User - No App Required
How to View Mustrs
Tap Messages in the navigation bar at the bottom of your screen.
Here you will be able to view Mustrs sent to you whether individually, to a team you're a part of, or command wide.
Use the filter icon in the top right corner to filter Mustrs by team(s)
Tap the compose icon in the bottom right corner to create a new message
You can send:
Broadcast
Status Check
RFI
Direct Message
Things to Keep in Mind:
Some Mustrs have a deadline by which you need to respond.
If you are an Org Leader or Team Leader, you are still required to respond to Mustrs. However, Status Checks and Broadcast Messages that you create will be automatically marked as Yes or Acknowledged for you.
You can add a comment to each question if needed. Keep in mind that comments are visible to users with org roles in your command.

RFI (Request for Information)
An RFI is a message that asks you to provide specific information, such as your location, availability, or to upload a document.
When you receive an RFI, you’ll be prompted to answer one or more questions. These may include:
Pre-formatted answer choices (yes or no, multiple choice, numeric, date)
The option to enter your own response (freeform)
A request to upload a file
You can also add a comment to each response if needed.
When you’re finished responding, tap Submit response.
Need to attach an image or file? See Submitting an RFI Response with an Image or File.
Status Check
A Status Check is used by leaders to quickly confirm your safety, often following an incident or event.
When you receive a Status Check, the question will always be:
“Are you ok?”
Tap one of the available options:
Yes
No
You can also add a comment if needed.
When you’re finished, tap Submit response.
Respond as soon as possible, especially during active situations.
Broadcast Message
A Broadcast Message is used to relay information to you. You are always required to acknowledge receipt.
Open the message and read all content, including any attachments.
Tap Acknowledge to confirm that you have received and read the message.
Optionally, tap Add Comment to provide additional information.
Tip: Always acknowledge receipt before the deadline (if any) so your leaders know you’ve read and understood the broadcast message.
Responding to a Direct Message
A Direct Message is sent to you individually and allows for one-on-one communication with the sender.
Open the direct message to read its content and any attachments.
Tap the reply icon in the bottom right corner under the message to compose your response.
Optionally, you can:
Mark your message as Urgent
Add additional recipients (who will have access to see the full thread)
Attach a file
Schedule the message
When ready, tap Send.
Note for SMS users: If you are using Mustr via SMS, your experience with Direct Messages will differ.
